When I first started with my son on this baseball journey, there was lots of talk about Charter ball. Coming from other sports, primarily cricket, I was very confused as to what this was.

From my very simplistic point of view, Charter Baseball is basically Representative Baseball.

So a club participates in a region. In Summer Baseball Geelong Baycats region is part of “The Mets” Charter or Region. Essendon and Footscray are part of “The Twins”.

These Charters come together on an annual basis, play off against each other to become “State” Champions, then proceed onto National Titles.

Maybe its just terminology, but this took me quite a bit to get my head around when we first started.

Winter Baseball has the same concept, however different regions. The Saints winter teams feed into the Geelong Region. Essendon feeds into “Diamond Valley”
